Oak Class

Classroom organisation:
Staff:

Mrs Taylor (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Williams (Thursday and Friday).  Mrs Browne  the teaching assistant every morning.

P.E. Days:

Wednesday and Thursday will be PE days. Please ensure your child comes to school in PE kit on these days. They will remain in their PE kit for the day. They may wear suitable tracksuit or joggers and sweatshirt over the top of their PE kit.

Behaviour:

There are high expectations for achievement and behaviour to ensure your child reaches their full potential. As a class, we have written and signed our own behaviour charter. Positive behaviour and learning will be rewarded with housepoints.

Homework:

Homework is set to help enrich and further support and develop the children’s learning. In Year 6, there is more homework to help prepare children for the transition to secondary school.

Maths: Maths homework will be set on a Monday and due on a Wednesday. Number fluency is of great importance, so please continue to encourage your child to use Timestable Rock Stars.

English: English homework will be set on a Wednesday and due in on a Friday.

Reading: Please take the time to read with your child and talk about their books to encourage their love and enjoyment of literature. Children should be reading and recording in their diaries at least three times a week. Weekly diary checks will take place on a Monday to ensure this is happening. A recommended reading list will be shared to help children choose their books.  Each week, there will be a ‘Reader of the Week Award’.

Reading Awards:   During celebration assembly (every two weeks) two pupils from each class will be awarded Reader of the Week.  Their photograph will be placed on the Reader of the Week display board and the reading trophy will be awarded to them for two weeks.

SATs:

In 2023, Year 6 SATs week will take place the week beginning Monday 8th May and end on Thursday 11th May. Please ensure that your child is in school for the entire week.
